Coming Soon: Registration for emergingumc2

Companions,

I'm working out the final details in our office to get our registration process up and running for emergingumc2.

As a reminder, this happening will occur November 12-14 (or 15 with an extended stay option) at Lockerbie Central UMC in Indianapolis. We're nailing down essentially free housing for you, and including a couple of meals in the registration fee (which we're keeping as modest as we can to pay our costs to hosts and service providers while not losing money for GBOD). So your costs will be registration, meals you choose to take on your own, and getting there.

And for that we've got some really special pluses-- a showing of Ordinary Radicals on the Thursday Night Movie Night, including time to talk about it with the filmmakers AND the opportunity to attend an event locally with Shane Claiborne as well on Friday night.

So this will be fun. And this will be real work, too... not workshops, but straight, real conversation, prayer, and commitments to ground level work we will each do (or keep doing!) to restore missional Methodism wherever we find ourselves. This isn't about church growth. It's about growing Church again, and doing what it takes to be part of that where we each are. And it's not about silver bullets-- but the long haul.

So watch this page for news that the registration link is up. This could happen as early as the end of this week, or next week. Whenever it does, I'll be sure to post it here, on the GBOD worship webpage, on our Twibe (#emergingumc), our GoogleGroup (emergingumc@gmail.com) and on Facebook (http://facebook.com/twbe).

Peace in Christ,

Twittering the Psalms This Summer

Companions,

Providence UMC in Charlotte, NC is doing an interesting experiment with the Psalms this summer. They're encouraging folks to read/pray the entire Psalter over the next 90 days, and using Twitter as a means to provide encouragement, reflection and interaction around what they learn and experience through the process.

You can join or follow the feed at:

Any of y'all doing something like this with Twitter where you are?

Peace in Christ,
