Hello fellow "emergents". I am new to blogging but have looked a little at what is offered here and it seems interesting. I am lay a person who is very serious about spiritual growth and development (esp. mine).
I had been involved with introducing and designing an alternative worship service at my church and was dismayed by the cool reception it received from most of the congregation. I loved it. It spoke to me and about 15 - 20 other families who were regular attendees. However, it was evidently too controversial and has been altered to a more blended service with technology resources and some contemporary music. I have been devastated by the loss of "my" service. Please share your ideas on how to help a congregation move from traditional/paternal to postmodern/inclusive in their worship style as well as strategies I can use to get beyond "what I want" and love this church where it is.
